India is experiencing a significant environmental transformation. Rapidly growing technology and information/knowledge sectors are bringing people into urban areas at an incredible pace, creating an urgent need to accommodate these growing industries and the people who work in them. Concurrent with this influx of population into India’s cities has been an unfortunate increase in pollution and production of industrial waste. The rush to build infrastructure and provide energy, water, and other resources presents broad environmental challenges, including waste management, pollution control, and sanitation.
