Lin is a doctoral student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at MIT. His research interests are in the field of renewable energy. Before joining MIT, Lin earned his Master’s degree in Nanotechnology from the University of Pennsylvania and Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Tsinghua University, Beijing.

Lin’s current research involves using an optically transparent and thermally insulating (OTTI) aerogel to harvest solar energy and generate steam beyond 100 °C at a much-reduced cost. In his spare time, he loves road trips, skiing, and watching movies.
