Libby McDonald

Faculty

As MIT CoLab’s Program Director of Global Sustainability Partnerships, Libby develops and implements innovative waste technologies and business models in urban centers and remote municipalities that simultaneously reduce greenhouse gases and create jobs for impoverished populations. Most recently Libby has been working with the Inter-American Development Bank, the United Nations Development Program, and the EPA to design and implement integrated waste management solutions in Nicaragua, Panama, and Mexico. In her fall MIT course, D-Lab Waste, Libby offers students the opportunity to explore and create business models and technologies for waste management in low-and-middle-income countries. A writer and a documentary filmmaker, Libby’s film and written work explore issues of race, equality, and the environment.
