David is a second year PhD student studying Atmospheric Physics and Chemistry in the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Prior to attending MIT, David earned his B.A. in Chemical Physics from Hendrix College and B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis as a dual-degree student.

David has spent significant time in research and development in both academia and industry. His previous research spans many disciplines, with projects including Layered Mode Selection Logic (robotics), hydrogen fuel reforming (fuel cells), and developing the Volatility and Polarity Separator (aerosol characterization).

David’s current project as a Tata fellow is to develop a more complete understanding of urban atmospheric chemistry in megacities using a high-density network of low-cost air quality sensors.

In his spare time, David enjoys running and coding, although usually not at the same time.
