Sabah Usmani / Urban Studies & Planning Department

Sabah is a Master’s candidate in Urban Studies and Planning at MIT working on energy and water planning in India. Her Tata research focus is on the potential for hydropower and hybrid energy systems in India.

Prior to MIT she worked as a sustainability manager in an urban development firm. Her focus was on sustainability initiatives for greenfield city-development projects in India, including transportation, building energy use, waste, and carbon management. She has also worked in a transport development firm and the World Bank Institute’s Urban, Water and Disaster Management Unit on Climate Resilient Cities.

Sabah has a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering with a minor in Architecture from Columbia University.
